As promised, here’s the first batch of nominees for the Special Awards. The February 28 deadline is nearing, so make the most out of the next two days nominating your favorite blogs!

The nominee list for the Main Categories has been updated as of 26 February 2007, 10:46AM. Please standby for the Special Awards nominee list, we’ll be posting it sometime today.

We have finalized the date of the Philippine Blog Awards to a comfortable March 31 2007. Please mark your calendars for this event. From the meetings we had over the weekend, we have had several options for the event venue. In the next few days we will be doing oculars to see if these places can actually accommodate the 1,000,000 expected guests

Since this is a community-organized event we are also open to suggestions from the blogging community for potential venues for the awards. Things to take into consideration would be the presence of a stage as well as a space to fit more than 100 guests. If you have a great idea for a venue, we would appreciate your help by emailing Gail (kutitots at gmail) or myself (jayvster at gmail) or leave a comment here.

But the thing is, not everyone is available on Friday night. For others, Saturday is much more convenient. So we decided that the volunteers’ meeting will be held in two sessions: one on Friday night, and another on Saturday. Here’s the revised info then:

WHEN: Saturday, 24 February 2007, 3PM onwards

Although it seems that most of the discussions will be held online (we have a googlegroup), we would really like the volunteers to meet face-to-face. It really contributes a lot to team work when you’ve already met one another in real life.

A good number of people have been emailing us about helping out at the event. Thank you so much! Since we want the Awards Night to be special for everyone, we’ve got to start planning it now.

So, you want to be part of the Awards Night organizing committee? We’ll have a meeting this coming Friday night. Here are the details:

If you’re interested to be a part of the committee, please leave a comment on this post or send an email to kutitots{at}gmail{dot}com with your mobile number and your real name (believe me, I still get messages from people who don’t bother putting in their real names). If you can’t attend the meeting, but still want to help out, it’s ok. We’ll just fill you in afterwards and assign you tasks (but you’re still going to miss all the bonding fun!).

UPDATE: In order for the majority of volunteers to meet each other, we decided to just have the volunteers’ meeting in two days, Friday (23 Feb 07) and Saturday (24 Feb 07).

After some deliberations and clarifications, we’re now opening the nominations for the Special Awards:

Best Free Custom Theme
Best Blog Plugin/Extension

Go here and nominate the blogs you feel deserve these Special Awards. But wait, take note that nominating a blog for a Special Award does not automatically qualify you for the main Awards Categories (and vice-versa). To qualify for both, you must nominate the blog using the Awards Categories nomination form and the Special Awards nomination form.

Yep, you read it right: Nominations for the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards are now open! You may submit as many blogs as you want—if you think they deserve to be called one of the Philippines’ finest blogs. You can also nominate somebody else’s blog. Oh, and yeah… Before anybody asks… There’s absolutely no entry fee to join the Awards!

Remember, the nomination period will run starting today (14 February 2007) until 28 February 2007 (that’s a Wednesday). So what are you waiting for? START NOMINATING!
