Criteria for Judging

The decision of the judges, who will be selected from persons from within and outside the Philippine Blogging Community renown in their particular field of expertise, is final and will be based on the following criteria (unless otherwise stated as in the case of the Special Awards Division – categories like Blog of Year Award is determined by vote whereas the other categories are evaluated by a panel of judges):

Criteria for Judging: Blog Division

Content – 80%
The post itself and all its totality from the headline to the manner and style of writing is considered. Content and how the content was presented is critical. It is the total package, from the headline to the grammar and even to the effective use of images and sound, that is considered. Content for content sake is not enough it must be told in a manner that effectively conveys the idea and leaves an imprint in the readers’ mind.

Design and Usability – 20%
This refers to aesthetic and usability features of the blog. Not only should it look pretty but it should also be functional and stress free to navigate within. Is it pretty and user-friendly.

Design Execution (40%)
Every blog has a purpose, and reflects the personality of the blogger. It also pertains to the originality of the design, which answers the question of whether or not the design is just a mere modification of another existing design.

Impact (20%)
Since design is the first thing that readers will see, it is important that it would make a good impression. The design should be effective enough to leave a lasting impression as well. Basically, Impact refers to the design’s “x-factor.”

Usability (20%)
It is important for a blog to be easily navigated by the reader. A blog design that takes into account Usability makes sure that the reader will not get lost while surfing within the blog (how easy or hard is it to look for stuff within the blog?). It also refers to how effective the navigation structure and the site map are.

Technical (20%)
Although blog/theme design refers to aesthetics most of the time, the technical aspect is also important in order for the blog to work properly. This criterion looks at how the designer looked into the validity and accessibility of the markup. It also scrutinizes the effort taken into making the blog / theme design compatible in most browsers.
