The First Visayas Blogging Summit (VBS) will be held in Iloilo City on November 27, 2010 at SM Cinema 8, SM City Mandurriao. Aside from the first VBS, Iloilo City will be hosting the second edition of Philippine Blog Awards – Visayas. Over 200 bloggers from Visayas, Luzon and Mindanao are expected to attend the said events. On November 28th, the delegates of the VBS will be treated to a whole-day of sightseeing tour of Iloilo.
Big names in the Philippine blogging community will be participating as speakers during the Visayas Blogging Summit.
According to Junelle Caravana (Iloilo Bloggers Organization’s Vice President), “The goal of the VBS is to gather ideas and explore the potential impact of blogging on society, business and politics , while the Philippine Blog Awards – Visayas, on the other hand, aims to recognize notable Visayan-owned and Visayan-related blogs in their respective niches.”
The VBS & PBA Visayas is organized by the Iloilo Bloggers Organization, a non-stock, non-profit organization, with the full support and endorsement of Philippine Blog Awards Inc. Iloilo City Mayor Hon. Jed Patrick Mabilog and Iloilo Representative Hon. Jerry Trenas are also supporting these events. The Iloilo Bloggers Organization is a diverse group of young people who have gathered with the mission to promote blogging in Iloilo City.
