With all due respect, I think this part was the single-most self-righteous and politically incorrect part of the entire program. I have nothing against people practicing their religion because heck, I would want them to respect my belief (or non-belief) as well. But when someone presumptuously claims that blogging in general should be used to lead us closer to (You) god, I don’t think it’s a good thing.

It’s very offensive. I know my opinion is going to be very unpopular and some people might even say that I’m overreacting, but that’s just because I’m in the minority. If somebody else assumed that your blog was meant to forward the interests of Satanism, most of you will be pissed as well.

This was an incredible faux pas and I hope the people responsible would publicly apologized for this politically-incorrect event.

I have nothing against the practice of religion - again, I respect others’ rights to verbalize their faith IN THE RIGHT VENUE. I wasn’t the only person who was irked by that shameless and insensitive “prayer” and I’m definintely not the only atheist/agnostic/non-believer in attendance. I don’t blog to forward any esoteric/metaphysical gain as recklessly assumed in the prayer.

I hope the person who would lead the invocation in the next blog events would be more sensitive to the diversity in the audience.

quite unpopular and unsavory but i agree with benj with most of what he said. let’s be sensitive to our non-christian and muslim brothers who might have been there. a moment of silence would have sufficed.
